Meet Firefighter Tom Dahm

Firefighter Dahm joined the Swansea Fire Department on January 31, 2005, after spending 4 years on the SFD Cadet Post. Firefighter Dahm currently serves as the President of The Swansea Fireman Civic Association. During his 15 years as a Firefighter, he has had many accomplishments including being named the Firefighter of the Year twice. FF Dahm also serves as an advisor on The Cadet Post helping to instruct and educate the future firefighters of the area.
When asked why he became a Firefighter Tom said that when he was young they had a CO detector “chirping” in the house so his parents called the non-emergency number for assistance. Because I had a headache (caused by doing homework) we soon started to hear sirens. Before we knew it there were multiple fire trucks, police, and an ambulance in front of our house. I thought it was awesome, but my parents not so much. I knew from that point on I wanted to be a firefighter.
His most memorable call was when we were called to rescue a victim who had their arm stuck underneath a dump truck. This call hit close to me because I grew up on my grandparent’s farm and would be working in or around big farm equipment.
Please join us in thanking Firefighter Tom Dahm for his continued dedication and support to The Village of Swansea and the Surrounding communities.
